Google Ads payment – a guide for publishers

“Money, money, money”, to quote the ABBA’s iconic 1976 song – it can indeed always be sunny in the publisher’s world, assuming they understand the process of ad monetization and withdrawal of earned profits. In this article, we’ll explain payments in platforms powered by Google Ads – AdMob, AdSense, and Ad Exchange. Among others, you’ll be able to find out how the AdSense payment threshold works in your country or what the timeframe is for receiving ad revenue from your AdMob account. Sounds interesting? Hop in!

Thresholds in AdMob, AdSense, and Ad Exchange

There are three fundamental platforms for publishers powered by Google Ads that enable generating ad revenue: AdMob, AdSense, and Ad Manager (through which you can access AdX – an ad exchange platform from Google). The platforms are essentially free of charge. One exception is that if you’re using GAM and you exceed the impression threshold, you have to switch to the premium version of the platform – Google Ad Manager 360 – and, in that case, pay for the service.

Before setting up your first withdrawal, it’s vital to know what thresholds are and why Google has decided to introduce them. In order to foster a mutually beneficial partnership, Google has implemented payment thresholds that ensure that your ad earnings are sufficient for company standards and that your cooperation with Google will likely last for a long time. These monetary levels apply across various ad monetization platforms, including AdSense, AdMob, and Ad Exchange. They are essential for tasks like account verification, payment method selection, withdrawal, and final withdrawal (preceding the account cancellation).

It’s possible to withdraw money from Google Ads-powered platforms in 28 currencies:

  • U.S. Dollar (USD),
  • Australian Dollar (AUD),
  • Canadian Dollar (CAD),
  • Chilean peso (CLP),
  • Czech Koruna (CZK),
  • Danish Krone (DKK),
  • Euro (EUR),
  • Great British Pound (GBP),
  • Hong Kong Dollar (HKD),
  • Hungarian Forint (HUF),
  • Indonesian rupiah (IDR),
  • Israeli Shekel (ILS),
  • Japanese Yen (JPY),
  • Jordanian dinar (JOD),
  • Mexican Peso (MXN),
  • Moroccan dirham (MAD),
  • New Zealand Dollar (NZD),
  • Norwegian Krone (NOK),
  • Peruvian sol (PEN),
  • Polish Zloty (PLN),
  • Singapore Dollar (SGD),
  • South African Rand (ZAR),
  • Swedish Krona (SEK),
  • Swiss Franc (CHF),
  • Tunisian dinar (TND),
  • Turkish Lira (TRY),
  • United Arab Emirates dirham (AED),
  • Uruguayan peso (UYU).

Here are four thresholds that are mandatory to carry out some essential activities:

  1. In order to successfully perform the verification process, you have to raise at least 10$ (or approximately the equivalent of it in other currencies);
  2. To establish a form of payment, you also have to gather no less than 10$;
  3. The biggest threshold regards the payment itself – to withdraw your ad revenue, you need to reach the 100$ threshold;
  4. Whereas, if you decide to cancel your account, and you want to withdraw your money, you must have at least 10$ collected there.

Methods of payments in platforms powered by Google Ads

Depending on the platform you choose, whether it’s AdSense, AdMob, or Google Ad Manager (from within which you can use Ad Exchange), you have the flexibility to opt for various payment methods:

  • When it comes to AdMob, publishers can pick between checks, wire transfers, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), EFT via Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), and the Rapida system;
  • Users of AdSense can choose between 3 options: check, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), and bank transfer;
  • Ad Exchange money can be withdrawn via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), EFT via Single Euro Payment Area (SEPA), or check.

Withdrawals in AdMob, AdSense, and Ad Exchange

How to withdraw your earnings in AdMob:

  1. After achieving the “payment method selection threshold”, you are eligible to set the payment method;
  2. Thenceforth, you have to submit information about taxes and later on confirm your identity by sending a photo of your documents (for instance: passport, ID, or driving license);
  3. Verify your full name and address so that, after you reach the verification threshold, Google can send a PIN to you via letter;
  4. The only thing left to do is enter the received PIN number in the dedicated space in your AdMob account;
  5. You will receive your payments via the chosen method (if you reach a payment threshold in a given month).

How to withdraw your earnings in AdSense:

  1. The first thing that needs to be done is sending your tax information to Google;
  2. The second step is a verification of your name and address, to do what you need to submit a document;
  3. After you prove your identity and reach the verification threshold, you will get a PIN sent via post to your address;
  4. Now you can enter your PIN into your AdSense account;
  5. At this stage, you are able to pick a method of payment that suits you;
  6. If you reach the payment threshold in a given month – Google will send you your ad revenue.

How to withdraw your earnings in GAM (from Ad Exchange):

  1. Verify the accuracy of your payment address and payee’s full name;
  2. After that, you can be asked to send Google your tax information, (however, it’s not necessary in all locations);
  3. Once your ad earnings reach the verification threshold, you will receive a PIN, which will be sent to the address you submitted before;
  4. Now it’s necessary to enter the PIN into your Ad Manager account;
  5. In order to receive a payment, you need to reach the payment threshold – then, it will be transferred to you via the chosen method.

Payment period in AdSense, AdMob, and Ad Exchange

When considering payments in different monetization platforms, it’s not just about the amount of money you earn, but also the period of time after which you will receive it. In the world of Google Ads, different tools may offer different ways of conducting payment processes.

How long does it take to get payments from Google Ads solutions:

  • In the case of AdMob, when your earnings exceed the payment threshold in a given month, you’ll be paid around the 21st day of the next month;
  • When it comes to AdSense, if you’ve completed all the steps enabling you to receive the money, and you’ve reached the payment threshold, Google will send your ad revenue via the chosen method between the 21st and 26th day of the next month;
  • Finally, when will you receive your Ad Exchange earnings? After hitting monthly payment thresholds, you can expect your money at the (widely defined) end of the next month.

Interestingly, in all the cases mentioned above, you can temporarily suspend your payments, and get them in a month that most suits you. However, keep in mind that Google may withhold your payments in case there is any Google Publisher Policies violation detected.

Fortune sides with him who… earns!

The entire financial aspect of monetization might seem complex. But instead of having to deal with all of that alone, you have the option to collaborate with a monetization partner who can assist you at every step of the monetization process. This includes selecting suitable ad units, building an effective ad layout, optimizing the revenue-generating process, and ensuring a timely payout of what you earn. While many partners typically pay content creators collaborating with them after 60 days, at optAd360, we provide publishers with a similar billing period as the one in Google’s products – we offer a 30-day payout! Additionally, we provide wide flexibility in terms of choosing a convenient payment method: PayPal, TransferWise, Payoneer, or bank transfer. Thanks to that, you can enjoy your ad revenue as fast as possible! Don’t wait – hop on, and let us do all the work for you!
